Shortly after Shakira’s ex Gerard Pique made his relationship with girlfriend Clara Chia Marti’s Instagram official, the pop star has now taken to her own account to share a cryptic message.
While sharing a video of herself dancing to one of her songs, Shakira wrote, “Women don’t cry anymore, women dance merengue.”
Gerard Pique’s decision to go public with his new romance on social media comes in the wake of Shakira taking a swipe at Clara in her new diss track, which has since topped Spotify’s Global Charts.
While Shakira’s new song features some snide lyrics aimed at Pique and his new partner, Clara Chia Marti, she also includes a few choice words for her ex-mother-in-law.
In the song, she sings the line: “You left my mother-in-law as my neighbour, with the press at the door and the debt in the Treasury.”
According to sources, Shakira allegedly realized her ex-boyfriend had been unfaithful when she discovered a jar of strawberry jam had been eaten while she was away.
She even went on to reference the strawberry jam in a music video for her single ‘Te Felicito’ in April, which featured a clip of the head of her collaborator Rauw Alejandro inside an open fridge.
Just so you know, the celebrity couple split in June 2022 after a twelve-year romance, which came amid cheating allegations.
