SEE Multi-talented Artistes Who Double As Music Producers

The Nigerian music industry is arguably the biggest music industry in Africa looking at the abundance of artists and even producers from this part of the world.

Music producers are often known to be the brain behind some of the amazing songs by some of the biggest artists, so with the knowledge of the elements involved in making a perfect song, some of these producers have grown in confidence to explore their artistic side.

Over the years, we have seen these music producers transition from just music production to artists.

Today let’s focus on 5 MUSIC PRODUCERS TURNED PERFORMING artists.

 

  1. YOUNG JONN

With the production tagline, “Young Jonn The Wicked Producer”, this producer turned performing artiste is popularly known for producing the critically acclaimed single ‘Story For The Gods’ off Oleamide’s Street OT album, amongst other songs on that project.

He also produced for the likes of Lil Kesh, Davido, Kiss Daniel, Phyno, and a huge catalogue of songs for Olamide.

He recently decided to explore other aspects of his talent by dropping a single titled ‘Dada’ and also his first EP, Love Is Not Enough, which was released in April last year.

  1. MALEEK BERRY

This award-winning music producer is known for producing several notable hit songs for industry heavyweights like Wizkid, Davido, Wande Coal, Runtown, Banky W, Iyanya, Wale, Fuse ODG, and others.

This feat however didn’t stop him from establishing himself as an artist, as he is also credited for some of his own hit songs like ‘Kontrol’, ‘Bend it’, ‘Pon My Mind’, ‘4 Me’, ‘Sisi Maria’, ‘Juice’ with Ycee, amongst other songs he was featured on.

  1. COBHAMS ASUQUO

He’s a musician, producer, and songwriter, who has released quite a number of hit singles over the years, such as ‘Ordinary People’, ‘Star of Wonder’, ‘Boosit’, ‘One Hit’, ‘We Plenti’, amongst others.

Before all of these songs, Cobhams is popular for having produced numerous hit songs for artists, and we cannot talk about his production skills without talking about the amazing work he did on Asa’s debut studio album titled ‘Asa’ which sparked a turnaround in his career.

Other artists he has worked with includes, Maintain, Djinee, Omawumi, Rooftop Mc’s, Banky W, Timi Dakolo, Waje, Dare Art-Alade, Chidinma, and many others.

  1. TEKNO

Asides from some of the major hits to his credit such as ‘Dance’, ‘Duro’, ‘Wash’, ‘Pana’, ‘Rara’, ‘Diana’, ‘Yawa’, ‘Skeletun’, amongst others, Tekno has also used his production skills to churn out hit songs for another artiste.

Starting off as a music producer, Tekno has been playing the piano since he was eight years old when he was enrolled into a music school where he learnt and mastered the rudiments of playing the guitar, and also the drums.

He has produced for artists such as Victoria Kimani, Ice Prince, Stonebwoy, Flavour, DJ Cuppy, Zlatan, Swae Lee Featuring Drake, and not forgetting Davido’s ‘If’, which is one of the songs that have shaped the Afrobeats to the world culture.

  1. PHEELZ

With the production tagline, “Pheelz Mr. Producer” and most recently “Ridimakulayo”, this music producer, singer and songwriter has one of the biggest songs last year 2022 titled ‘Finesse’ featuring BNXN.

Before this newfound fame, Pheelz is credited to have produced all but one song on Oleamide’s ‘Baddest Guy Ever Liveth’ album, a move which made him gain grounds in the Nigerian music industry.

Other artists he has produced for includes, Fireboy, Lil Kesh, Teni, Davido, Darey, Tiwa Savage, M.I, Runtown, Seyi Shay, and others.
