Couples end their marriage plans a few days before their wedding after finding out that their genotype isn’t compatible.
According to the couple’s wedding invitation that’s currently making the rounds online, the wedding was scheduled for February 10, 2023.
This was shared by a Hausa page which posted an invite to a wedding. It was discovered that the bride and groom are both of AS genotype. The ceremony was set to hold on February 10, 2023.
Recall that some months ago, a Nigerian lady living with sickle cell anaemia tearfully pleaded with couples whose genotypes are both AS to not get married to avoid having children with SS.
The young lady advised couples with AS genotypes not to marry, no matter how much they love each other, in order to avoid having children with SS.
According to her, sickle cell is painful, and patients usually suffer excruciating pains that make them question why they were born.
“If you’re AS and your partner is AS, please do not go ahead and get married. Please don’t. I’m in pain; my whole body is in pain. I’m in excruciating pain. Do not bring forth children with Sickle Cell. Sickle Cell is painful; it will make you question why you were born,” she said
Could this have been avoided?
