Nigerian singer, Brymo, has come out to share his own side of the story regarding the widespread anti-Igbo remarks he made online.
The music star stirred controversy when he went on a Twitter tirade against Igbos over political affiliations and differences.
He went as far as retweeting a tweet that said that all Igbos are senseless.
He further said, “F*ck The Ndi Igbo. To Hell With It.”
The comments initially garnered criticism from fellow celebrities and fans, but Brymo maintained his stance, showing he’s not sorry by retweeting the same set of tweets that got him under fire in the first place.
There was also a petition that was launched for his AFRIMA nomination to be revoked with immediate effect.
Following all of these, Brymo who felt the heat and backlash from Nigerians decided to share his side of the story on an Instagram live session, where he made the genesis of the entire issue known.
He said that the whole issue started after he shared his view on the news that Chimamanda Adichie accepted a traditional Igbo chieftaincy title but rejected a national honour, suggesting that it shouldn’t have been the case considering the fact that the region should be clamouring for the Presidency.
He said, “I did not insult the tribe, I am sorry to anyone who it sounded as such to”, adding that he was “trying to weigh into a very important matter.”
