A jury in Los Angeles has found Canadian rapper/singer, Tory Lanez guilty on all three charges levied against him, which is in relation to the July 2020 shooting of American rapper, Megan Thee Stallion.
The Canadian artiste whose real name is Daystar Peterson had initially pleaded not guilty to all three charges, which include one count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, discharging a firearm with gross negligence, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.
Now that the jury has found him guilty, Tory Lanez could face a maximum sentence of more than twenty-two years in prison and deportation back to Canada.
He was however taken back into custody on Friday in handcuffs, as his sentencing date is scheduled for January 27, 2023.
Megan’s attorney, Alex Spire, released a statement shortly after the verdict, writing, “The jury got it right. I am thankful there is justice for Meg.”
All of this is coming after over a week-long trial full of damning testimony from the victim, Megan Thee Stallion, along with other witnesses on the night of the shooting.
According to reports, Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, emotionally testified that Tory Lanez offered her one million dollars to keep quiet about the alleged shooting, she even revealed that the traumatic incident has caused her to have suicidal thoughts.
