Bright Okpocha, a Nigerian comedian better known by his stage as Basketmouth, and his wife Elsie Uzoma Okpocha have divorced.
The 44 -year -old comedian on Thursday took to social media to share a cryptic post announcing the end of their marriage with Elsie Uzoma.
Basketmouth called for privacy at the moment as he also made it clear that he wouldn’t be revisiting the matter after his announcement.
He said, “As much as it pains me to bring my personal life to the public space, this is an unavoidable situation.
“After much deliberations, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage.
“As we move forward separately, we will continue to work together to give our beautiful children all the care, love guidance and support they need.
“We humbly ask that you respect our privacy as we navigate through these times. “Thank you.”
The two had been together for 12 years, they got married in 2020 and they welcomed their third child together in July 2021. They have three children together, Janelle, Jason, and Maya Okpocha
Many social media users are in shock after the comedian announced that he and his wife have decided to end their marriage.
‘The devil really fights so hard for the institution of marriage,’ one Twitter user said.
Another Twitter user asked how it would be possible for them to take care of their children now that they are going their separate ways.
