Six years later and British singer, Rita Ora still can’t escape the rumours of being the alleged ‘Becky with the good hair that Beyonce was referring to in her 2016 single, Sorry.
In a recent interview with Louis Theroux, Rita Ora addresses the time she was once accused of being Jay-Z’s mistress, the one the rapper allegedly cheated with, that Beyonce sang about in the song, Sorry.
Rita insists she was never romantically involved with her former mentor Jay Z at any point during their working relationship when she was signed to his music label, Roc Nation
Theroux questioned Rita Ora about wearing a lemon motif bra and a ‘J’ initial necklace shortly after the release of ‘Sorry’.
Just so you know, the singer uploaded a photo of herself wearing the racy ensemble on Instagram, and this move left fans speculating that she was firing back at Beyonce’s “Becky with the good hair” line.
Rita Ora then said, “Oh my god, it literally was a coincidence. I didn’t even think about it, I swear. And it wasn’t a J, it was an r. They flipped it round and then it looked like a J.”
The British-American host then asked Rita Ora if she purposely wore the racy ensemble to stir up rumours, and she said, “No, it had nothing… No, that was my own design with an underwear company called Tezenis that I was working with… This is what I mean, man.
A pinch of salt — you’ve got to take things with a pinch of salt. And that’s what’s insane. I just had to sit through that until a good friend of mine, Katy Perry, gave me a hilarious badge that said ‘not Becky.”
