The MOBO Awards 2022 which was held at the OVO Arena in Wembley, London has come and gone, leaving behind a trail of winners some of which are the biggest stars in their respective countries.
Nigerian superstar Burnaboy was one of the winners, as he snagged two awards, Best International Act and Best African Music Act respectively.
He got nominated in the Best International Act category alongside Beyonce, Chris Brown, Drake, Jack Harlow, Jazmine Sullivan, Kendrick Lamar, Skillibeng, Summer Walker, and Tems.
Burna also won the Best African Act, beating the likes of Asake, Rema, Fireboy, and Omah Lay.
In an appreciative tweet he shared on Twitter, Burna Boy wrote, “Thank you so much @MOBOAwards for the Two Awards, Best International Act 2022 & Best African Music Act 2022. Sorry I couldn’t be there. Truly Grateful. Thank you to all my fans and those that voted.”
Other winners of the night include, Craig David for Outstanding Contribution, Nile Rodgers for Lifetime Achievement, Skillibeng for Best Caribbean Music Act, Central Cee, Pink Pantheress, Mahalia, and K-Trap amongst others.
The MOBO Awards is an annual British music award presentation honouring achievements in Music Of Black Origin, including hip hop, grime, UK Drill, R&B, and more.
