Following her speech at the just concluded American Music Awards, singer Kelly Rowland has continued her support for Chris Brown amidst the backlash she is facing for her statement on stage over the weekend.
It all started when Kelly Rowland was brought up on stage during the award ceremony to present the Favorite Male R&B Artiste category which Chris Brown won.
Due to his absence, Kelly Rowland accepted the award on his behalf saying, “I want to tell Chris, thank you so much for making great R&B music, and I want to tell him to thank you for being an incredible performer.
I’ll take this award and bring it to you. I love you. Congratulations, and congratulations to all the nominees in this category.”
Shortly after Kelly Rowland publicly stood by Chris Brown at the AMAs, there were now various thoughts on that move on social media, as many debated their support for Breezy since the infamous 2009 incident where he physically assaulted his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. While many were outraged, some were supportive of Kelly Rowland’s stance.
In a quick chat with TMZ, Kelly Rowland doubles down on defending Chris Brown saying, “I believe that grace is very real and we all need a dose of it. And before we point fingers at anybody, we should realize how grateful we are for every moment that we get. Even for our own things that we have.”
She added, “I just think it’s important to be humans, we are humans. We all need to be forgiven for anything that we could be doing, anything that we’re thinking. We all came up short in some way and grace is real. We are humans, and everybody deserves grace, period.”
