These are the common habits we should try avoiding when engaging in conversations

This Monday, we will like to address some things that we knowingly or unknowingly do when we have conversations with people.

There are some people that you always just want to avoid having a conversation with because if the conversation doesn’t go their way, all hell will let loose.

As usual, we have put together at least 5 deadly sins of speaking we think you should avoid.

  1. JUDGING

We’ve all met someone who is always ready to bring out other people’s flaws when speaking with someone like them.

You may feel vulnerable, so it’s often preferable to wait until you have more information about a person or circumstance, as you don’t know them; you only know a snippet of their story.

  1. NEGATIVITY

“The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds, and the pessimist fears this is true” – JAMES BRANCH CABELL.

Now, someone who brings a negative perspective to all aspects of life is the true energy sucker, making everyone as sad and cynical as they are.

  1. COMPLAINING

Complaining is contagious misery. It does not bring happiness and light into the world, it’s a way of relinquishing control to others and fate.

When you start to complain, ask yourself, “What am I able to manage in this situation?” And then try to put your attention on it.

  1. LYING (EXAGGERATION)

It’s absolutely OK to employ a little hyperbole to make your story more interesting or humorous.

However, no one wants to hear repeated exaggerations, as people will begin to doubt your every statement. If you stretch the truth too far, you won’t be able to hide your lies any longer.

  1. DOGMATISM

This is when someone declares their point of view as reality and refuses to consider the views of others.

Nobody is always correct, and no one is always wrong. Some people grow more dogmatic out of fear of losing an argument or simply because they can’t stand being taught anything that may change their reality.
