American television host and comedian, Jimmy Kimmel will be making a return as a host for the third time for the 95th Oscars ceremony scheduled for March 2023.
Speaking about the gig in a statement, Jimmy Kimmel who has hosted the event twice before, in 2017 and 2018 said, “Being invited to host the Oscars for the third time is either a great honour or a trap. Either way, I am grateful to the Academy for asking me so quickly after everyone good said no.”
Prior to the Jimmy Kimmel Live star, Jerry Lewis, Steve Martin, Conrad Nagel, and David Niven hosted the Oscar ceremony thrice.
“We’re super thrilled to have Jimmy score his hat trick on this global stage. We know he will be funny and ready for anything,” Weiss and Kirshner said in a joint statement.
Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy president Janet Yang said in a statement, “Jimmy is the perfect host to help us recognize the incredible artists and films of our 95th Oscars.
His love of movies, live TV expertise, and ability to connect with our global audiences will create an unforgettable experience for our millions of viewers worldwide.”
Just so you know, in 2022, the Academy had three main hosts; Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall, while for the three previous years, from 2019 to 2021, there was no official host.
The 2023 Academy awards are scheduled to take place on the 12th of March, 2023 in Los Angeles, U.S.A.
