Manchester United and Portugal player, Cristiano Ronaldo has broken another record, as he has become the first person to gain five hundred million followers on the photo and video-sharing social networking app, Instagram.
What this means is that the footballer is currently the most followed person on social media in the world.
His long-time rival Lionel Messi remains the second-most followed person in the world with over three hundred and seventy-seven million followers, making both iconic footballers as the only athletes in the top ten of the most followed people on Instagram.
Others on the top ten list of most-followed people on Instagram include Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, and Khloe Kardashian, while the official Instagram account has the highest number of followers with over five hundred and sixty-nine million people.
Just so you know, Cristiano Ronaldo made headlines for the wrong reasons the whole of last week, after his surprise interview with British broadcaster, Piers Morgan where he called out Manchester United’s owners, his manager Erik ten Hag, and others.
Cristiano Ronaldo also recently appeared with Lionel Messi for a Louis Vuitton campaign that broke the internet over the weekend.
