Book Chat | Positive Attitude In Trials

We had an insightful book review with writer Adetola Alaou. She is a nurse and she had her nursing training at Obafemi Awolowo University. Here is her story on how she started writing and what motivated her.

What is the story behind your pocketbook, Positive Attitude in trails?

I started writing in 2020 during the pandemic when work and movement were restricted and I was a little bit bored at home. I wanted to keep myself busy and I have a passion for writing so I went into it.

However, the experience that actually triggered this book was during my special nursing training, we were 30 in class and we were preparing for our final exam which determines one’s life.

Then suddenly, we heard a piece of information from the authority that there was a little issue, that they were only going to present 25 students out of the 30. Unfortunately, and fortunately for me, I was among the five that wouldn’t be presented so felt bad, I was down and sad, after paying a lot of money, I wasn’t going to write the exam.

I spoke to my family and parents and they encouraged me but what actually motivated me was a friend.

We were in this together and she was not bothered at all, she was always like, Shola don’t worry we will graduate with everyone and write this exam.

Because she had a positive attitude, she encouraged and motivated me. I kept believing and hoping. Then luckily for us, after a lot of effort by the school authorities, we were given the opportunity to write the exam with the rest.
