Was it difficult for you to break into Hollywood?

It is difficult for everyone but its a different side of struggle when you are a dark skin woman in the industry but overall, I am really really grateful for everything that I have been able to add to my belt and I am grateful for every time I get to show up on set and just be around people.

I enjoy being around and to get back to work. That is the goal, that’s what we do all this for.

What do you think makes you stand out amongst others?

The short answer is, the talent, skill and grace of God because realistically, it’s not really about being pretty or having the best look and as matter of fact, a lot of time it doesn’t even come to who has the best talent. You are just an ever-moving chase board that is involved in who gets to play what role.

Overall, I have been trained, I have a degree in acting, I started in San Francisco and I think that having that skill set that’s like ready to go and it really helps because it’s one thing to be talented and another thing is having the skilled until you can turn it into a craft.

Does it have anything to do with where you are from?

Well. it helps some of the time, with roles like the one we just watch and with roles like nanny where I played a Nigerian so there’s a lot of time where I will get a role when I will get an audition for a role for someone who is African and being African helps.

My accent is authentic, I can actually kind of deliver a more convincing and authentic audition in that type of situation to a large number of them.
