Given the extent of the damage his wife, Bimbo, had caused to his property, the posts he made may have appeared to be receipt.

How it all started

The whole thing started when rumours started to circulate that Bimbo Ogbonna had earlier in the week set fire to her husband’s home in Lagos.

It was reported, the incident which happened at their house in Megamound Estate, Lekki, Lagos, on October 12, caused her to come perilously near to dying.

Reports state that Bimbo was in anguish at a hospital after almost passing away from burns she received during an argument with her husband.

Sources claim that a quarrel started when Bimbo questioned her husband about the way he frequently strikes her. The person who called for rescue swiftly took her and IVD to the hospital.

Instablog9ja, a Nigerian Instagram gossip website, claims that IVD ran away from the scene as his wife was receiving medical attention in the acute care unit of an undisclosed hospital in Lagos.

However, Bimbo didn’t survive and was eventually pronounced dead.

Social Media Update on the story

According to the stories shared on Instagram by both families and friends of IVD and Bimbo, IVD  had previously mistreated Bimbo on numerous occasions.

Bimbo reportedly had a coma caused by her husband beating her while she was pregnant. She awoke in May 2019. She had been eight months pregnant at that time.

On October 4, 2020, just a few days after she claimed in an exposé that he had abused her for 19 years, IVD published a video of him reconciling with his wife.

Bimbo then returned to the internet and made hints that the harassment was still happening. Bimbo stated that she was “mentally unstable” in January 2022 and that her life was “being wrecked.”

Additionally, she left behind a brief note that was presumably addressed to her husband.

As she pleaded for people to take her children away before they too are damaged, she wrote back in January, “I gave you more than I gave myself, so loyal to you that I betrayed myself.”

She continued by saying that although she had “nice intentions” when she got married, the partnership had caused her a lot of pain. She claimed that she had “desired this marriage to terminate long ago.”

She also mentioned in the January article that she is the only one of the seven children her parents had who did not graduate because she put her life on hold to pursue IVD.

When Bimbo and IVD began their family, she was reportedly still a teenager. Her 15-year-old friends claim.

Additionally, Bimbo claimed in one of her online posts that IVD had regularly pointed his gun at her in front of their children. She said that he frequently beat her and cheated on her. Bimbo remained in the marriage despite talking about it on social media.

They’ve been a couple for around 22 years.
