Nigerian singer and songwriter Harry Okiri, popularly known as Harrysong revealed that he had been arrested by men of the Nigerian police force at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport upon his arrival into the country.
In a post on his Instagram story through a brief statement signed by his management, it was noted that the singer’s phone was seized at the point of arrest.
The post read, “I got arrested as I landed in Lagos. My phone has been seized and they won’t allow me to communicate with my people.”
This is coming barely a week after Harrysong accused music executive, Soso Soberekon, of being his enemy and trying to kill him when he appeared on a podcast called ‘Frankly Speaking.
He was then served a letter by Soso’s Lawyers over claims of defamation and it was demanded that the artiste tender an apology, remove the defamatory material from all social media platforms, and also pay five hundred million naira in damages.
This Tuesday however marked the seven-day ultimatum given to Harrysong to meet the demands contained in the letter or face a legal suit.
According to Police sources, Harrysong will be released or detained, depending on the outcome of its investigation.
