Osita Chidoka, a former minister of aviation, says Nigeria’s institutions are “weak”.
Taking to his Facebook page on Saturday, Chidoka mourned his relative who reportedly died after a visit to the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, over “chest pain”.
The deceased, identified as Paul Egbon, the husband to his older sister, reportedly complained of chest pain before he was taken to the hospital.
The former minister said a doctor attended to Egbon, prescribed some drugs, and recommended some tests, and upon getting to the laboratory, he was told to return the following day.
However, upon arrival at the same hospital the next day after reportedly suffering what is suspected to be a cardiac arrest, Chidoka said the doctor on duty declared Egbon dead without any attempt to empathise with the wife, who he said was left with the corpse in the car.
”Yesterday, I wrote, in my university class group, about the inevitability of death as we approach the fifth decade conscious of the fact that the life expectancy of a Nigerian is 54 years. Two of our classmates died yesterday,” his post reads.
”Today death visited. My brother-in-law Apost Paul Egbon husband of my only sister Ada Chidoka Egbon died at age 56.
