Queen of Pop, Madonna celebrated the 30th anniversary of her then-controversial coffee table book “S.E.X” by praising herself with a post on her Instagram story stating that she paved the way for women like Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus and Cardi B, who were less than pleased by that statement.
Madonna wrote, “30 years ago I published a book called S.E.X., in addition to photos of me naked, kissing everyone. I also wrote about my sexual fantasies and shared my point of view about sexuality in an ironic way.
“I spent the next few years being interviewed by narrow-minded people who tried to shame me for empowering myself as a Woman. I was called a *BLEEP*, a witch a heretic and the devil.”
“Now Cardi B can sing about her WAP. Kim Kardashian can grace the cover of any magazine with her naked *BLEEP* and Miley Cyrus can come in like a wrecking ball. You’re welcome *BLEEP*” Madonna ended with a clown face emoji.
Reacting to that statement, Cardi B took to Twitter to pour out her mind writing, “I literally paid this woman homage so many times because I grew up listening to her…she can make her point without putting clown emojis and getting slick out the mouth…These icons really become disappointments once u make it in the industry that’s why I keep to myself.”
The rapper wrote all of this in a now-deleted tweet alongside a screenshot of a 2018 Billboard article in which she praises Madonna.
Cardi B later returned to Twitter writing, “I talked to Madonna…It was beautiful…Have a great day and drive safely yallll.”
Madonna also replied to that tweet writing, “I love you Cardi B!!! Always have and always will.”
In a video posted to Hollywood Unlocked’s Instagram account, Cardi B shared a few more words about her telephone conversation with Madonna.
She said, “I’m glad I had a conversation with Madonna, because I am sensitive. You already know I’m a sensitive gangsta, my feelings were a little hurt because to me Madonna is no regular artist; she’s actually somebody that I really look up to.”
