After various speculations, Rihanna has finally confirmed that she will be headlining the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show slated for February.
The new mum made the announcement on her Instagram page, where she shared a photo of her tattooed arm holding a football.
This also happens to be the singer’s first post on her social media platform since she gave birth to her first child in May.
A statement released by Roc Nation founder Shawn Jay-Z Carter, reads, “Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn.
A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment.”
According to sources, the NFL and Roc Nation were in talks with Rihanna to headline. The singer however previously turned down the NFL halftime show in 2019 in support of Colin Kaepernick but has remained a likely candidate for halftime show headliner for years.
Just so you know, the former player, Colin Kaepernick refused to stand for the US national anthem at the beginning of games to protest police brutality and racial inequality.
The last star to headline the show was Dr. Dre, who brought out Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, and Anderson. Paak to perform with him during the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show in Inglewood, California earlier this year.
