Ami is currently a portrait photographer and his picture are more of a passion for making and preserving beautiful memories than just clicking on a camera button.
How long ago was it you were in front of the camera?
It’s been a while, it’s been like two years now since I have been in front of the camera.
Tell us about your transition from an artist to a photographer
Initially, music has always been a way for me to express myself, then along the line, I came in touch with Emmanuel Oyeleke – a photographer, visual artist, portraitist and fashion photographer out of Lagos and Ty Bello and I just saw what they did and it brought out the artistic side of me, I knew that I could still express myself through this artistic way.
What was it that really push you from being in front of the camera to behind the camara
The ability to tell people stories, photography for me is the ability to capture memories, to help people keep a legacy and to be able to see the light in people.
Sometimes people don’t see that light in them, it is possible in one space where someone feels unhappy etc and when it comes to photographing them, you pamper them, you help them celebrate and see life and it cheers them up.
Is music over for you?
No, last year, I still put out two singles and there are doing pretty amazing, I did a song with Bolu “No Words”. I still find ways to express myself artistically through music too.
