Nigerian rapper Panshak Zamani popularly known as Ice Prince is now a free man following his release from the Ikoyi correctional facility, Lagos.
Confirming the latest development, the rapper’s lawyer, Folarin Dalmeida, stated, “Yes, he (Ice Prince) was released yesterday. He met the bail conditions even before Thursday but the verification process was what delayed his release.”
Just so you know, during the trial last Wednesday, the prosecutor asked the court to adjourn the case, citing the absence of his two witnesses. However, Ice Prince’s lawyer presented the two sureties to the court.
Magistrate T.F. Oyeniyi of the Ajah Magistrate Court 1 had earlier set bail conditions for the rapper at five hundred thousand naira with two responsible sureties in like sum.
Ice Prince is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on assault, obstructing a policeman from carrying out its statutory duties, and abduction.
According to a statement released by the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, the rapper was arrested for allegedly abducting and threatening to throw an officer into the river after he was stopped for driving without a license in the early hours of Friday, the second of September.
