The battle between former Hollywood sweethearts Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie over their French winery has taken another twist.
Angelina Jolie Files Lawsuit, Claims Brad Pitt Tried To ‘Seize Control’ Of Winery
A company founded by Angelina Jolie has reportedly sued her ex-husband Brad Pitt for two hundred and fifty million dollars over their joint stakes in a French winery.
According to court documents, the actress claims that Brad and a gang of cronies launched a devious campaign to seize control of the French winery that they bought as a couple in retaliation for the divorce and custody proceedings and to ensure she (Jolie) would never see a dime of its vast profits.
It was also alleged in the lawsuit that Brad Pitt tried to use the mother-of-seven’s large financial stake in the winery to force her to sign a “hush-clause” to keep her from spilling details of their marriage fallout.
Ever since the divorce, Pitt and his partners have squandered tens of millions of Chateau Miraval’s money on vanity projects that have little, if any, business justification including more than a million dollars on a swimming pool, as well as several million dollars on reconstructing stone walls using stone masons from Croatia.
The court papers filed in Los Angeles claimed that after the pair bought the one thousand three hundred-acre estates in the South of France in 2008, and they jointly invested tens of millions of dollars to improve it.
The suit says that Jolie and Pitt each owned fifty per cent via a complicated web of holding companies and that much of Jolie’s personal wealth was tied up in the winery.
The estranged couple has been locked in various legal skirmishes over the property for months, and this latest filing is a countersuit against papers filed by Pitt’s attorneys.
Just so you know, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie bought the estate three years after they began dating, they even got married in a chapel on its grounds in 2014.
