With the appointment of two former Senate Presidents – Pius Ayim and Bukola Saraki as Special Advisers, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar may be looking beyond the support of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his allies.
Ayim and Saraki were among PDP chieftains named yesterday by Atiku in a statement by his media aide, Paul Ibe, as advisers. Saraki was named as Special Envoy.
The appointment came on a day that Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom washed his hands off the travails of PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu.
Ayu, Ortom’s kinsman from Benue, is facing pressure from Wike and his allies to step aside to allow equity in the opposition party.
The Benue helmsman is with the Rivers governor on the Ayu-must-go campaign.
