Today’s times of crises have revealed our natural weakness for irrational and often pessimistic behaviours.
We have also seen a global rise in depression, anxiety and other mental issues, and in such challenging times, what actions can we take to boost our wellbeing and build our resilience?
That’s why we have put together 5 ways to practice real self-care for our esteemed viewers because.
1. IMPROVE YOUR MENTAL DIET
Everything changes when you realize your diet isn’t just what you eat, it’s you watch what you read, who you follow and who you spend your time with, so if your goal is to have a healthier mind, start by removing junk food from your mental diet.
2. LEARN TO LET PEOPLE DOWN
Now, this just means that your mental health is more important than your career, money, other people’s opinions, that event you said you will attend, your friend or partner’s mood and your family’s wishes combined.
So if taking care of yourself means letting someone down, then let someone down.
3. SET CLEAR BOUNDARIES AND PROTECT THEM
You don’t lose real friends, real opportunities or real relationships when you start standing up for yourself and setting clear boundaries.
You lose abusers, manipulators, narcissists, attention seekers and mental health-destroying leeches, So, anything you lose when you stand up for yourself is something else gained.
4. MAKE REPLACEMENTS
Real self-care requires replacement. So try replacing Netflix marathons with sleep, replace fake influencers with inspiring creators, replace toxic friends with mentors, replace complaining with gratitude, replace blame with responsibility, and replace overthinking with action.
5. LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR FUTURE NOT BACK AT YOUR PAST
Your mental health will never improve if you keep searching for happiness in the same toxic people and places that you lost because that person is still a cheater, that relationship is toxic, and that job still sucks.
Your past is your past, and you have to look forward to moving forward.
