The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) representative in Lagos, Arikuyeri, has been murdered.
The deceased, whose real name was Sulaimon Onaolapo, served as the NURTW chairman in Mile 12.
In a trending video, Arikuyeri is seen on the ground being repeatedly hit on the body and head by a group of young males.
He had been chased to the spot after hours of fighting that resulted in the use of guns, machetes and other dangerous weapons.
This publication gathered that suspected loyalists and colleagues of Arikuyeri went on a rampage at Mile 12, Ketu Owode Onirin and other parts of the community attacking residents and passers-by.
The battle over supremacy in motor parks around the Mile 12 area of the state resulted in an exchange of gunfire between the warring cult gangs.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police public relations officer, verified the event and stated that operatives had returned everything to normal.
He said, “YES. But Security Agents are fully on top of the matter. Cult Clash. One Suleiman Lawal aka “Ariku” was hit.”
“Normalcy has been restored in the area. One person was killed. No arrest has been made yet.” he added
But tension has enveloped the area amid fears of reprisal attacks by warring factions and Onaolapo’s supporters.
