According to Elizabeth, the best food o[tions should be a balance and healthy diet. It must have the three major macronutrients which are
- Carbohydrate
- Protein
- Fat and Oil
It is very wrong for a new mother to be staying off any of these nutrients because whatever the mother eats, the child eats.
There’s a split balance between what you want for yourself as another and what is necessary for your child.
The new mother needs to ensure that the food they eat is the food the child needs to grow. Mother is in the Maintainance face of their lives meanwhile the kids are still growing so a balanced diet is very important.
Foods to eat as a new mother.
- meats.
- beans.
- vegetables (especially leafy green vegetables)
- fruits or 100 per cent fruit juice
- bread, cereals and grains.
- milk, cheese and eggs
- Water
- Pepper soup
- Yam
- Sweet Potatoes
- Moimoi
- Amala
All of these can be consumed as long as it’s in a small quantity. At every meal, fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables. The other half should include whole grains like brown rice, whole grains.
