The movie “Day Shift” is a story about a hard-working “pool cleaner” killing vampires for a living as he tries to maintain a connection with his daughter and struggles with financial issues in order to take care of her.
Jamie Foxx portrays a serious husband and a father who struggles to save his cracking marriage.
Top cast; Jamie Foxx, Bud Jablonski, Dave Franco, Seth, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Heather, Meagan Good, Jocelyn Jablonski, Karla Souza, Audrey San Fernando.
To some, it is indeed a good refreshing vampire action comedy with Foxx and Dave Franco playing serious and witty roles respectively.
Surprisingly, this 2022 Netflix movie has gotten a lot of reactions. Not so many people find it interesting.
A critic, Nidhun Thankachan wrote, “Day Shift” simply lacks the narrative panache and absorbing action of its predecessor and is an utter failure when it comes to its comedy.
“The writing from Tyler Rice and Shay Hatten tries to add some layering into its world-building, with mythology introduced about vampirical sub-species and hives but the near-nonstop goofiness disrupts that as well.
“While Snoop Dogg shines in an extended cameo role, the other supporting characters like Karla Souza as the villainess and Zion Broadnaux as Bud’s daughter “Paige” are too caricature-ish to make any real impact.
“For a film directed by a former stunt coordinator, the action sequences are pedestrian and lack any real innovation, ending up as template threads that you get the urge to fast-forward through.
“Day Shift” is yet another bungling direct-to-digital action comedy foray from Netflix, another dud to add to a growing list that the OTT major really needs to look into, introspect and reinvent. Not recommended!” He added
