Reports making the rounds states that American Rapper Meek Mill has allegedly severed his working relationship with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Management.
Meek Mill first signed with Roc Nation under a management deal back in 2012, and in 2019, he landed a joint venture deal between the management and his Dreamchasers imprint
In 2019, Meek Mill also teamed up with Jay-Z and started REFORM Alliance following his incarceration in 2018, a coalition which helps to push for criminal justice reform.
As at February, there were already signs that all was not well with the partnership, as Meek Mill tweeted out his frustrations after the release of his last studio album ‘Expensive Pain.’
He wrote, “They didn’t put nothing into expensive pain and then said I can’t drop another project for 9 months at the end of my contract after I made them 100’s of millions… how would can anybody survive that… most rappers can’t speak because they depend on these companies ‘I don’t”
In October last year, in a now deleted tweet, Meek Mill wrote, “I haven’t get paid from music and I don’t know how much money labels make off me. I need lawyers asap!!!”
The rapper has now broken his silence in a series of tweets after the news broke. Meek Mill tweeted,
“All I saw today was Meek and Roc part ways. I’m personally handling my own business, so I can take risks and grow.
“We came to that agreement together. I have a label deal with Roc for my artist, and I got REFORM super tied with them and many other investments with Jigga.”
He also shut down any beef with the management stating that they’re his family and for people not to get mixed up with his previous posts aimed at Atlantic Records, he also mentioned his relationship with Rick Ross’ label, MMG, stating that things are good with them.
As of now, representatives for Roc Nation have not released any statement regarding these reports.
However, Meek Mill is no longer featured on the Roc Nation website or its social media platforms.
