PRO Ondo State Police Command Clears Air on Rescued Children in Ondo Church

She revealed that 26 children and 43 adults were rescued from the underground church and they went there of their free will.
Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, said that the children were being held on the premises of the church which is located in the Valentino area of Ondo Town.

When the story first emerged, she said in a statement that operatives had acted after receiving intelligence that “some minors are being harbored at The Whole Bible Believers Church.
According to her, “Policemen were sent to the Church to invite the Pastor and the members of the Church. On sighting the Police, they attacked them,” she added.
She said two of the church’s pastors were arrested and are in custody.

She said parents who came around claimed it was one Pastor Josiah Peter Asumosa, an Assistant Pastor in the Church that was majorly at fault.
“He was the one who told the members that Rapture will take place in April but later said it has been changed to September 2022 and told the young members to obey only their parents in the Lord.”
According to her, some of the children and youths that were picked from the church had been staying there for weeks.
“Initially the parents and their children were all members of the church until the parents started leaving.”

“Another family who was also around during the rescue said their daughter a part three student, dropped out of school due to the strange teachings of the Pastor and left home in January 2022 to start living in the Church,” she added
