Still talking about Beyonce’s new album, ‘Renaissance’, American singer Kelis has called out Beyoncé and her team for stealing a sample of her music for her new project.
In several posts uploaded to her social media platforms, Kelis pointed out that the song titled ‘Energy’ contained pieces of her 1999 single ‘Get Along with You’ which was written by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo off her album ‘Kaleidoscope’ stating that she was never asked for permission and didn’t know about it until she saw it online.
In one of the many posts, Kelis wrote, “My mind is blown too because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all 3 parties involved is astounding.
I heard about this the same way everyone else did. Nothing is ever as it seems, some of the people in this business have no soul or integrity and they have everyone fooled.”
She further said, “I’m a human being so I get ticked off and I get pissed off, right. I’m an artist so I’m sensitive about my *BLEEP*.
“The reality is that my real beef is not ONLY with Beyoncé because, at the end of the day she sampled a record, she’s copied me before, she’s sampled before. So have many other artists.
“It’s fine. I don’t care about that. The issue is that not only are we female artists, black female artists in an industry where there’s not that many of us, we’ve met each other, we know each other, we have mutual friends, it’s not hard. She can contact…It’s just common decency.”
