Nigerian hit record producer, artiste, songwriter, music composer, and creative entrepreneur gives a little glimpse into his life and how his career started.
Talking about how he got the tag line ‘Will Will Willis Give Dem’ he said it happened back then in the university. A friend of his came visiting his small studio setup he had then in school and he was like ‘Willis Give Dem’ so it became his official tag.
Sharing how music started for him he said,
“It started in the church, i pray drums and keyboard and from there i started having interest in production and i started producing from secondary school actually.
“By the time i got to uni, i realized people were buying beats from me, at least 30k then. So i felt like for me to get to this point where people are buying my beat that means i have something.
“When i finished uni and went back to Abuja i noticed that people were really getting into my sound. I started getting advice from friends to move to Lagos.
“I was scared at first but i thank God i made that decision and came to Lagos. From there i met Falz and that was how i made my first big song ” Sweet Boy” and then ‘Talk’, ‘I Feel Good’ and now ‘Give Dem’.
Talking about his expectations and where he sees himself he said,
“I see myself in the next three-four years in that big global stage working with the likes of Drake, Chris Brown and the rest.
“Afrobeat right now is in a big space and a lot of things are happening not just for the artist but for the producers as well, so i would say i am very hopeful.
“I mean the growth of Afrobeat is very inspiring because nobody saw it coming and they’re just letting everybody know that afrobeat is actually up. We are next.
