The need to bring about positive change for women, youth, and children is the reason why i accepted to be Olajide Adediran’s running mate for Lagos PDP governor in 2023, Funke Akindele, informed her acceptance.
Akindele described her decision to join Adediran, also known as “Jandor,” as a significant sacrifice. Adediran was the subject of the Lagos state PDP’s Tuesday unveiling during a carnival-like event at Ikorodu.

Jandor who unveiled the Lagos-born actress on Tuesday as the PDP deputy governorship candidate in a series of tweets, urged the residents of Lagos to work with them.
He emphasized that the actress would enhance his campaign and said that he made the choice because he was clear about the mission at hand and wanted to collaborate with another co-visionary who shared his enthusiasm for the liberation of the good.
The PDP flag-bearer claims that Akindele is big-hearted and has a well-known history of service and advocacy. He also claims that the path requires focus, resilience, and perseverance.
Additionally, he referred to his running companion as “an Ikorodu-born success story” who, via a number of her enterprises, had a beneficial impact on society.
His statement reads,
Hello Lagosians! I am quite pleased to share some exciting news with you that concerns our shared interest in making our beloved city and its residents greatly flourish. 2022 is a very important year for every resident of this great state.
It marks the eve of our collective autonomy from avoidable hardship; where we must put our all into freeing ourselves, via the ballot, at next year’s general elections. Alongside a group of eager progressives, I am doing my part in “working the talk”.

Most of these concerns really don’t require rocket science to fix. What they do require is an emotionally intelligent, listening and sensitive government. Undoubtedly, Lagos needs a breath of fresh air.
