Wizkid and Tems are officially the first African acts to achieve this feat at the recently concluded BET Awards.
Following their win in the Best Collaboration category at the BET Awards 2022, which took place in the early hours of today, Monday, June 27, 2022, Wizkid and Tems set a new record for African artists as they became the first acts to achieve this undefeated feat at the award ceremony.
Wizkid and Tems are the first and only acts to win a major category at the BET Awards as they bagged the award for the Best Collaboration with the hit song ‘Essence’ that featured Justin Bieber on the remix.
Wizkid, who had been absent at the award ceremony, was well represented by Tems as she took center stage to receive the award and give a heartwarming speech.
Fans can not seem to forget Big Wiz’s tweet where he confirmed that he and Tems created magic before ‘Essence’ was released off his ‘Made In Lagos’ album, as this seems obvious with the amount of recognition the hit track has gotten so far.
