When it comes to the Nigerian entertainment industry, the music and movie sector is one that is thriving tremendously, and the good thing is that they go hand in hand.
Just so you know, a lot of the biggest name we have in entertainment are either artiste or actors.
But have you ever wondered what happens when artistes become actors and also the other way round?
Here are Five Nigerian Artistes Who Have Ventured Into Acting.
- OMAWUMI
The Nigerian singer movie debut was in 2013 when she starred in the Yvonne Nelson produced movie, ‘House of Gold.’
She even has her own movie production company in which she starred in its first movie titled ‘She Is’.
Asides from that, Omawumi has starred in a number of movies such as Make a Move, Night Bus to Lagos, and Oloture.
- BANKY W
He is another musician who at this point also doubles as an actor.
Banky W who has a production company ‘BAAD’ with his actor wife Adesua has acted in a number of blockbuster Nigerian movies, some of which includes, The Wedding Party 1&2, Up North, and Sugar Rush.
- WAJE
Waje just like her bestie Omawumi also makes this list, as she also co-owns the movie production company with fellow singer Omawumi.
Asides starring in the company’s first movie titled ‘She Is’, Waje has also acted in other movies such as Tunnel, Fifty, and Heaven’s Hell.
- REMINISCE & ILLBLISS
This is a two in one combo, as both rappers made their acting debut on the same project, ‘King of Boys’.
They were so good and believable with their roles that they were featured again on the movie sequel King of Boys: The Return of the King which was produced and directed by Kemi Adetiba.
The crazy thing about Reminisce’s and Illbliss performance is that ever since the movie got out, they have been respectively getting a lot of movie gigs.
- FALZ
He still has the bragging right of been an artiste with a movie award, that is the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
Falz made his Nollywood debut in the movie ‘A Couple of Days, after which he ensured his stance in acting featuring as the male lead in Funke Akindele’s series, Jenifa’s Diaries.
Other movies to his credit includes, 10 Days in Sun City, New Money, Merry Men: The Real Yoruba Demons, Chief Daddy, Merry Men 2, Your Excellency, Quam’s Money, and Chief Daddy 2.
