Nigeria records it biggest win in history as the Super Eagles thrash Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Monday.
It was Nigeria’s biggest win ever in international football, surpassing their 10-1 rout of Benin in 1959.
The last time the Eagles scored as many goals was on 27 July 1991 when they defeated Burkina Faso 7-1 at the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos.
Nigeria have now made it two wins out of two matches to sit top of Group A with six points and a +10 goal difference.
Osimhen opened the score sheet in the 9th minute of the tie, before adding one each in the 48th, 65th, and 84th minutes.
The Nigerian team had also bagged all three points in their 2-1 defeat of Sierra Leone at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has revealed he wants to make the Nigeria national team the top team in Africa.
“I want to create a big team to be top in Africa. I want to improve our organisation on the pitch because we did not train too much with them and we want to introduce our ideas.”
“This match was good because they tried to follow our organisation, our style and they followed it.
“They tried, I selected the players to start and they did well and the guys that were introduced in the match, they played well.
“Nigeria has many good players as I told you during my presentation.” He added.
