Brymo Is The Nigerian Artist With The Most Projects — A Legend?

In the past, we’ve praised artists like Burna Boy for being prolific and consistent.

But the truth is, even though Burna Boy has quite a good number of projects, it is still nothing compared to some artists. Timaya, for example. But Timaya doesn’t even have as many projects as Brymo.

The alternative artist whose full name is Olawale Olofooro, was a pop sensation in the 2010s as a part of the Choc City renaissance that swept across Nigeria. He played a major part in putting Choc City on the map with his hits and collabos (“Ara,” “Oleku”).

He had released his debut album, “Brymstone” in 2007, leading him to get the deal with the Audu Maikori-founded Chocolate City. It wasn’t until 2012 under the Choc City umbrella before he released his sophomore, though.

His sophomore, “The Son of a Kapenta” is a very good pop album and of the best in 2012. Also, mostly mistaken as his first, but was actually his second.

Not long after his album, he had a fallout with Chocolate City and after some lawsuits, he exited the record label. He then transformed from an afro-pop artist into an alternative artist, releasing his “Merchants, Dealers, and Slaves” album in 2013. It goes without saying, that album is today a Nigerian classic.

Since then, he’s released some twelve projects, making it a total of fourteen. The most by any artist in that period. At the rate he releases music, it’ll take years of him not releasing before any artist can drop enough projects to meet up with him.

Brymo, a famed songwriter and performer, does not seem to be slowing down though. Within the past two years, he has released four albums and an EP. Five projects! It’s taken most artists more than ten years to pull off five projects (ask Wizkid.)

Only artists like Olamide can touch Brymo when it comes to releasing projects. Even then, Olamide won’t even be able to surpass the singer. In my books, that makes him a legend!
