More woes for embattled American stand-up comedian/actor, Bill Cosby, as a civil jury in Los Angeles county found him guilty for sexually abusing a Judy Huth in 1975 when she was a 16-years-old.
Bill Cosby was then ordered to pay five hundred thousand dollars in damages but no punitive compensation.
He however didn’t testify at or attend the two-week trial, but clips from his 2015 video deposition were played in court.
In the deposition, he denied having any sexual contact with Judy Huth, who filed the civil lawsuit in 2014.
During the case, Judy Huth, who is now 64, accused Bill Cosby of luring her and a friend to the Playboy Mansion a few days after meeting them in a park.
She testified that he attempted to put his hands down her pants, exposed himself to her, and forced her to touch him sexually in a bedroom at Hugh Hefner’s estate.
Reacting to the verdict outside the courthouse, Judy said she was elated and grateful for the jury, saying, “it’s been so many years, so many tears, it’s just a long time coming.”
On the other hand, Bill Cosby’s legal team seems to be happy too with the outcome, as the verdict was read with no punitive damages found.
