Sokoto Blasphemy: Taking A Life Unjustly In Islam Is Like Destroying The Whole Of Mankind -Nyma

There have been shocking reactions to the gruesome kIlling of a female student, Deborah, a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto by irate youths.

Videos of the late student being stoned and beaten with sticks then burnt to ashes went viral on Thursday after she was killed by a mob over alleged blasphemy 

Deborah remains were buried on Saturday at the Christian cemetery in her hometown in Tunga Magajiya, Rijau LGA of Niger state.

Her killing had sparked outrage across the country, with Nigerians asking the government to fish out the perpetrators of the crime..

There was  condemnation from civil society organisations (CSOs), Muslim leaders and groups, most notably Muhammadu Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto.

On Saturday morning, some Muslim youths in Sokoto took to the streets to protest the arrest of the suspects asking for the immediate release of their brothers 

The protesters were armed with placards that read: “Release our Muslim brothers”etc
