How Early Should A Child Be Engaged In Sǝx Education?

WUN hosts react to the trending book that was tagged age 4 -8 but revealed some advanced sǝx education.

According to wikipedia, Sex education,  is the instruction of issues relating to human sexuality, including emotional relations and responsibilities, human sexual anatomy, sexual activity, sexual reproduction, age of consent, reproductive health, reproductive rights, sexual health, safe sex and birth control.

Sex education helps people gain the information and skills they need to make the best decisions for themselves about sex and relationships.

However, at what age should children be taught sex related topics?

Reacting to a book title ” How A Baby Is Made” which went viral on social media, here’s what WUN hosts have to say.

The book, How a Baby Is Made, is written by Danish author Per Holm Knudsen.

In graphic detail, the book describes exactly how a baby is made, from the moment the parents wish to have a child, till the moment they have their baby in their hands.

The fuss all started when Crysta-Mai Elassaad shared photos of the book on Facebook. The book is however made for children from age 4-8

Reacting to the book Mike one of the host of Wake Up Nigeria on TVC said though the book is educative but it’s not supposed to be made for kid of that age.

He said,

“I feel it’s too early, children should be protected to a large extent. I know the society has failed in a way if you’re talking about abusers but that doesn’t mean we should expose young kids to such contents.

‘Kids are inquisitive, they like to explore. They may want to try out such information. The book is too descriptive. Because we are trying to solve a problem doesn’t mean we should create a bigger one.

“Let the society make sure the children are protected. Put in measures that will deal hardly on abusers till the kids are up to age to learn.” He added
