The Nigerian actor Akah Nnani has described how he was allegedly hounded by agents of the Lagos police command who accused him of possessing charm. tHe incident took place along Ring Road Bridge.
The Actor said there were over 20 police officers on the bridge who claimed they were conducting a stop-and-search operation using a shuttle bus.
He wrote,
“I’m so pissed off!! I had a nasty experience yesterday night. The Nigerian Police Force @nigeriapoliceforce needs to look into this and stop the menace going on from 9pm every night on the Ring road bridge linking Osbourne from 3rd mainland. Please tag who ever you know that needs to hear this and stop this.”
In the video, the actor narrated that one of the police officers who came to the car he was in, cocked his gun and pointed it at him and the driver without establishing if they are criminals or had committed a crime.
“He was like, ‘move to the side, park, park’. I was angry at this point and thinking, why would you cock your gun at me? I told him, if you want us to park, we will park, stop pointing your gun at us. The police replied ‘you can’t teach us how to do our job, we are here to stop and search’.”
Akah said the police officers then asked them to drive to a dark alley, away from the bridge and other road users.
He added that they insisted on searching him and after they saw his house key which had local drum attached to it, they accused him of having a charm.
