The other day, someone turned to me and asked “why is Pop Smoke’s music still on TV if he has been dead two years?”
Well, it’s unfortunate what happened to American rapper, Pop Smoke, who died at such a young age. And there’s no denying we have witnessed a few significant unfortunate demises of creatives who would have done a lot more if their life hadn’t been cut short. You know what they say, we must go when the most high call us.
For most, the moment they die, then that’s the end and nobody cares about them anymore. Too bad, but that’s just what it is. But for so many others, even when they’re dead, people still continue to jam their music for a long time after.
Pop Smoke is not alone. There’s always that one artist that even though he’s dead, you’ll forever continue to feel his music. For me and many others, that artist is someone like Fela Kuti. It doesn’t matter if he’s been dead for one hundred years, his music will surely continue to touch souls.
Which other artist do you know that falls in the category? Why don’t you tell us in the comments? God bless the dead.
