Specialist and Oncologist Dr Anthonia Shewummi discusses the theme for this year’s world cancer day, she states that the rate of unawareness is alarming and the need to create as much awareness as possible as regards the threat cancer poses to individuals.
World Cancer Day is an international day marked on 4 February to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.
World Cancer Day is led by the Union for International Cancer Control to support the goals of the World Cancer Declaration, written in 2008.
The essence of this awareness is because we found out that there’s lot of gap, less gap from awareness, accessibility to care. A lot of the population and the citizen are not so much aware about cancer. There are misinformed. So they need to know the steps to take to have a good treatment outcome
