‘Intersex is a very rare condition and it cannot be prevented before child birth’, Gynecologist, Professor Adegboyega says
Ex-Super Falcons player, James Johnson, formerly known as Iyabo Ajibade who has both male and female reproductive organ, revealed that he left the Nigeria’s super falcon when he realized he was different from every other woman in the team.
The hermaphrodite who has lived most of his life as a woman says the condition has affected his life. He added that he couldn’t menstruate or develop breasts as a woman, which made him open up to Nigerians about his condition.
After opening up in 1997, James said his case was tabled to the Nigeria Football Federal (NFF) where he was asked to undergo a surgery to maintain one gender. According to him, he was neglected by the NFF when his condition was made known.
‘Since I was evicted from the national team due to my condition, NFF neglected me to carry my cross myself. I didn’t get any support from them’, he said.

‘I have done two phases of the surgery, I need the last of the surgery to make me a full grown man. I am finding it difficult to be a father at the moment because of the surgery,’ he said.
