Nigerian has crossed the 100,000 mark in terms of Covid-19 infection rate making Nigeria the eighth most infected country in Africa.
The recent rise in number of cases is alarming, the death rate has increased. What and why has caused this rise? Could it be Nigeria has the new strain of covid-19 in Nigeria? The ladies of Your View engaged the National Coordinator, Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, Dr. Sanni Aliyu in an hot topic segment.
Dr. Sanni Aliyu clarified that it hasn’t been confirmed if Nigeria now has the new strain of covid-19, however medical investigations are ongoing to determine that. Speaking about the rise in covid-19 cases, Dr Sanni says it all boils down to people’s behaviour to preventing the virus.
“We really need to stop having mass gatherings, we need to be very sensitive to our environment and the people we meet.”
Nyma pointed out the fact that people are made to come out compulsorily to be in crowded places with the recent call to link their National identity number to their mobile numbers. “It’s a fact that the protocols at the NIMC centres presently are not being obeyed anywhere. Is there a possibility the PTF would direct that the registration be put on hold and the deadline be shifted even further till we’re at a place where we think it’s okay to do this? Or a different method of registration is done?”
