Everyone is buzzing about the Big Brother Naija Show that just ended on Sunday, 27th of September, 2020 with Olamilekan Agbeleshe (Laycon) emerging the winner of the star prize – N85 Million. Now that the Big Brother Naija Lockdown has ended, What will be the centre of discussion?
This is the Big question raging on the minds of many Nigerians. On TVC breakfast show, Wake Up Nigeria, TV presenters, Mazino, Mike, Tope and Mary discussed this on the coffee table gist segment.
Weighing in on the conversation, Tope Olowoniyan said young people are no longer keen on discussing national issues affecting the country.
She said they prefer gossips and relationship issues, to things that have to do with politics.
Tope stressed that most youths don’t have interest in politics, because there is no strong foundation to make their interest solid.
Buttressing her point, she said; “I remember when I was in secondary school. I remember government, I didn’t like the subject, that’s because the teacher didn’t make it interesting. Imagine me growing up and not understanding anything about politics. I see politics for older people that want to make money.’’
She ended the story by stressing that youths should be educated more on the need to develop interest in the affairs of the country.
This, in essence, is a message to students in secondary schools and higher institutions, to start getting more interest in politics, so that youths can begin to take more roles in politics as a career, in order to contribute to the development of their fatherland.
On the other hand, Mazino focused on the fact that viewers already knew who the winner was, and in his opinion, it was not an exciting win. According to him, “It wasn’t an exciting win because we all knew he was going to win”.
