TVC News Correspondent Ivy Kanu was on Tuesday night arrested and detained by the officers of the Lagos Police Command, Alausa division, while returning from work.
An update to the story is, Ivy Kanu, has been released from Police Custody.
Apart from Ivy Kanu, other journalists and health workers were also detained for allegedly violating curfew.
Meanwhile, the force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, confirmed to TVC News that Journalists and other essential workers are exempted from the restriction and curfew.
This was also contained in a statement he issued on Friday.
The statement reads: “All essential workers including Medical Personnel, Firefighters, Ambulance Services, Journalists, etc are exempted from the restriction of movement associated with both the partial lockdown and the national curfew across the Federation.
“The Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed A. Adamu has therefore directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police and Commands Commissioners of Police to give effect to these exemptions whilst enforcing the restriction orders, Mba stated.
