Mikel Obi loses contract with Trabzonspor over the club's refusal to stop football matches because of the covid19 outbreak

Nigerian footballer, John Mikel Obi loses contract with his Turkish football club, Trabzonspor after speaking out against the club for refusing to stop football matches due to the covid19 outbreak.

Mikel Obi had taken to his social media page to make the below post, stating that he doesn’t feel comfortable and doesn’t want to play football under the current coronavirus outbreak.

“There is more to life than football. I do not feel comfortable and don’t want to play football in this situation. Everyone should be home with their families and loved ones in this critical time. Season should be cancelled as the world is facing such turbulent times.”

You may recall that all English Premier League matches have been postponed because of the covid19 outbreak and other sport organizations around the world have done the same including Nigeria.
