It’s official: the #MeToo movement has won as embattled movie producer, Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 23 years in prison over the rape and sexual assault charges leveled against him.
According to a New York court ruling, Weinstein’s criminal sexual act conviction carried a possible maximum sentence of 5 to 25 years in prison, while the sentence for the rape conviction was anywhere from probation to 4 years.
This is however coming less than 24 hours after his lawyers had pleaded with the court to reduce his sentence to 5 years.
