‘Mokalik’ follows the acquisition of Nollywood veteran actress Genevieve Nnaji’s self-directed debut movie, ‘Lion Heart’

Netflix is aggressively penetrating into African market by strategically acquiring notable movies from the continent.

The American streaming platform has acquired the right to veteran movie producer and director Kunle Afolayan’s latest movie, ‘Mokalik’ and a few others.

This was announced by the acclaimed filmmaker himself. “I wish to inform you that Netflix has acquired “Mokalik” and some other of my films,” he said.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the movie, Afolayan said, “visiting the mechanic workshop after about 15 years opened my eyes to a lot of things that I believe the world should know about our local auto car repairs industry.”
