A Court in Kano has allegedly sentenced a singer who hails from Kano to 2 years imprisonment after the release of his viral anti-Ganduje song – a direct shot at the Governor Ganduje song.
The singer identified as Mohammed Yusuf, professionally called AGY committed three offences – Singing without permission from Kano censors board, shooting video without permission and abusing Governor Ganduje. The Magistrate court states.

According to reports, Yusuf’s song which was intended to praise Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II contained some stanzas in which he outrightly defamed Governor Ganduje.
In the said hit song, the singer had stated that the governor can sell his wife, Goggo, because of money. Some lines in the song read: “Kano governor has already turned blind, I swear what you did is hurting us, for lucre, governor is more than a thief, for lucre, governor can sell out Goggo.”

BBC Pidgin has reported that for the first offence, AGY is suppose to serve a one year for jail, but has an option to pay N100,000. However, if he meets with that bail term, he still has to stay in jail for one year because the insult on Governor Ganduje has no fine attached to it.
On Tuesday, a musician identified as Sanusi Abdullahi SK was wrongfully arrested as regards the song, however he was released after proper arrest was made.
